The Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) will now be known as Lagos State University of Education (LASUED).
The House of Assembly Committee on Education commenced work on AOCOED elevation in July, 2021.
The Chairman, Ajani Owolabi, provided an upgrade on the reforms accordingly;
The lawmaker recalled that the legislature considered his committee reports on the university of Education, Lagos ( UNEDLAG) Bill, 2021.
He said; After consultations and deliberations, some changes were made and included in the recommendations.
It was agreed that “UNEDLAG” but deleted and replaced with”LASUED” meaning ‘Lagos State University of Education’.
Clause 39(1) will now read;
‘The University shall operate a multii-campus system with the main campus in Adenran Ogunsanya, Otto/Ijanikin and it’s annex at Michael Otedola, Noforija, Epe”
Other locations will be determined “by the visitors or council from time to time”, the statement added.
Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ogun State is the first in Nigeria after its status was upped from College of Education in 2005.
